Four Eyes of the Same Mirror

by Hiba rb

To some you are a glowing casket,

Waiting to numb their sleepless pain,

To some, the flowing water; to mirror

Their smiles or sunken eyes each evening.

Or

               a friendly morning nod,

               your evening tea,

               a solemn look,

               mourning,

               sleep,

               a painting,

               winter's cold,

               a child's laugh,

               an evening stroll,

               a night dressed with tears.

(Face the mirror)

you are each shade of dirt and sun,

each shade giving birth to the sky,

a canvas of miracles and mistakes,

a silent night, fading with tears,

             rejuvenated by your heart.

To you,

you are a five year-old's drawing,

flawed and kept close, after all.
